I’m Mady, a non-binary painter and all-around creative based in Owatonna, MN.
Art has been my constant companion for as long as I can remember. Thanks to my mother’s unwavering support, my childhood was filled with brushes, paints, and an encouraging audience. I was captivated early on by the challenge of capturing human expression, a passion that led to countless sketch-covered homework assignments. The thrill of connecting through art became undeniable when, in middle school, I sold my first piece to a classmate—an experience that resonated deeply, even long before I pursued art as a career.
I studied fine art in college, where I refined my painting techniques and deepened my understanding of composition, color theory, and expression. Today, I create moody acrylic and ink portrait paintings infused with elements of nature, blending emotional depth with organic forms. I like to play with the contrast of luminous color against deep black ink to create something both slightly haunting yet otherworldly and beautiful. My work explores identity, memory, and the complicated relationship between humans and nature.
