My name is Mady, I am a Non-Binary Painter and overall Creative Person. I live in Owatonna, MN with my husband and three cats, and I love every second of it.
I think I came out of the womb painting and creating. My mother was ridiculously supportive of my artistic endeavors, so I always had art supplies and a kind audience. I became absolutely enamored with capturing the human expression, and was known for turning in homework assignments covered in doodles of my classmates. I sold my first piece of art to one of these very classmates in the 7th grade, it would be many (many) years before I sold another piece, but I will never forget the satisfaction of someone truly resonating with my work.
My art is very informed by my experience with my gender expression, living in a world that is not always kind to those of us who are different. The faces I create are purposely kept mostly androgynous; I enjoy exploring the gray areas of gender.
Some Neat Things I have done:
Had my artwork on display at a hospital, and even had a news article written about me!
Been a featured artist at St. Cloud Pride
Displayed my art for sale at Owatonna Pride - hosted by Rainbowatonna
Helped run a student operated gallery called the Gallery Vault while in College
Received ribbons for my paintings at the Steele County Free Fair
SCSU’s Juror’s Choice Award Artist in 2018 - received a small scholarship as a result
